Here I am : at the beginning of each year, I have to do it. I’m of those who can’t help looking back at the year that just ended before making plans for the year to come. As if the end of the calendar forced me to look inside me, for better or worse. Beyond the retrospective collage of pictures published on this blog or on Instagram, here is my review of the year 2013 :
2012 ended on a very positive note : we got married at the beginning of December then traveled to Senegal. 2013 was to be the most beautiful years of all, and we were looking forward to moving to New York in February and throw our Wedding Party in August.
But 2013 began very badly. I lost a member of my family in very painful circumstances. I never talked about it here, but it weighted on my mind throughout the year, and even today, not a single day goes by without me thinking of him with a lump in my throat and my heart torn. I now know that this violent sorrow will never go away, but I’m trying to learn to live with this pain and the sweet memories of him. Moreover, I feel guilty for being far from my family. They all suffered from this unfair grief and I wish I were there for them.
Then I had to pack my suitcases and move to New York. It was ten months ago. I had a hard time leaving, but I had to. Maybe it was a good thing not having enough time to think about my sorrow, and leave everything behind to share a wonderful experience with my lover.
Of course I should tell you more about my life in New York, but you’ll have to wait a few more weeks, when I’ll celebrate the first anniversary of my moving here. You all asked me a lot of questions on this topic, some personal, some practical. The thing is, I didn’t always want to answer the first ones, and I hadn’t been here long enough to answer the second ones. But I promise you you’ll know everything soon.
Professionally, 2013 was a turning point : I left my job in Lille after 3 years of good service and 8 years of study. It was risky, but I succeeded in becoming a full-time blogger, and it’s more intense, more interesting and more fulfilling than I thought!
I worked a lot, and all the hours that I spent backstage organizing shootings, giveaways, partnerships, writing thousands of articles and emails, and animating the social networks on which you’re following me, kept me very busy!! I hope you know you’re the only reason I’m doing this! All your comments, your “like” and your messages make me want to improve myself every day to offer you a content that you will like.
The blog also evolved thanks to competent and lovely people such as Agnes for the design (there will be a new setting for these pages very soon) and Marie for the English version (I can’t wait to finally meet my Wonder Translator in person in a few months!). Romain was a brilliant photographer, and believe me, it’s not always easy for him since he has a very demanding job and a very demanding wife!! Thank you my love <3
What else can I say?
I’ve met some great people, I started liking my natural hair, I met Karl Lagerfeld, I ate about thirty burgers and as many Benedict eggs and pancakes, I gave a $10,000 check to the Association La Voix de l’Enfant thanks to Forever 21, I bought my first Chanel bag, I went to Top of the Rock at least ten times, I got married in Normandy with almost all the people I love, I learned to know New York, I traveled hundreds of miles in elevators in this vertical city, I started working out again, I quit smoking several times and gained some pounds accordingly (I definitely want to lose weight in 2014!), I’ve seen Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition in Rotterdam and Brooklyn, I started working with Ykone and I can’t wait to work on new projects with them this year, I was nominated for the Stylight Fashion Bloggers Awards in Best Style Blog category, I visited Atlantic City, I went to my dear Célinette’s wedding in France, I spent hours in Central Park, I went to my first Fashion Week in New York… I must be forgetting a few!
One thing is certain : in 2014, I want to travel more, because that’s what I missed the most in 2013. I’m not going to complain, living in New York is a permanent journey! But with our wedding and the flights to go back to France once in a while, we didn’t go on vacation! On that point, 2014 sounds good since we’ll go to Costa Rica in ten days and to Australia in July!
Otherwise, I have many wishes and secret plans to make this blog change a lot more in 2014, but above all, I want YOU, dear readers, to tell me what you would like to see on these pages! So please tell me in your comments! You can also tell me what were your favorite moments in 2013, I’d be glad to know which articles you remember the most!
Voila! All that remains for me is to wish you all a very good year from the bottom of my heart! I hope 2014 will meet your expectations <3
Thanks to everyone for following me, I can’t wait to start this new year with you!
