After two outfits shot in Los Angeles, I’m gonna tell you more about our short stay there, more than a month ago.
When we booked our tickets for Australia, we realized that the easiest way from New York was to stop in Los Angeles. Since we had never been there before, we decided to spend 3 days there before flying to Melbourne. We knew that 3 days and 2 nights would be very short, but we were about to spend three weeks in Australia so we couldn’t afford to stay longer.
The idea was to catch a glimpse of the city. I had planned our stay very well, and we had a pretty nice schedule ahead of us. I was over excited!
In the end, I’m rather divided about Los Angeles. I thought I would instantly fall in love with this city. People had told me so much about it!! Moreover, L.A is like New York, you see it all the time on TV, in movies, in shows, and even on blogs… it’s as if we were bound to find it awesome.
I know that three days isn’t enough to have a clear, measured point of view (nothing annoys me more than people who spend three days in New York and believe they’ve seen it all!), so let’s say I thought it was ok. “so-so”.
Let’s start with what I really didn’t like : cars everywhere all the time, “highway avenues”, disproportionate distances, people (not kind at all!), Hollywood (the phony atmosphere and the cult of appearance).
What I did like : Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier and Pacific Park (even if it’s not as great as Coney Island!), Downtown L.A (ultra modern architecture next to old-fashioned buildings), the beautiful palm trees on roadsides, cactuses in the city.
I could probably change my mind about L.A, for I’m sure it has much more to offer than what I saw in three days. That’s why I hope I’ll go back one day. If so, I will focus on places I haven’t seen yet, as well as one the ones I’ve liked; and also on theme parks, that we intentionally forgot during this quick stopover.
Voilà, I leave you with the pictures, I hope you’ll like them.
See you soon in my articles about Australia !
